Low living areas are always face more destruction when flood comes. In recent years, Hyderabad and Pune cities have experienced infrastructure failures, particularly flooding in low lying areas. This situation calls into question our planning strategies and level of preparedness. Increased flooding has made it necessary to take immediate action to solve the issue.

Causes for Urban Flooding:

• Meteorological Factors: Heavy rainfall, cyclonic storms & thunderstorms.
• Natural Factors: Snow melt, overbank flow, high tides.
• Lack of Urban plaining system.
• Defective Drainage system: authorities are unable to make proper planning for drastically increase population.
• Human Factors:
• Extreme weather occurrences have been brought on by climate change, which is the result of numerous anthropogenic activities.
• Population migration from village to urban areas also major factors for flooding. Because increasing population effects seepage organisation due to lack of land area.
• People never follow properly National Disaster Management Guidelines (NDMA).

Important steps to be taken:

• Aware citizen to follow the instructions of NDMA.
• Harvesting rainfall and other preventative measures, such as deepening ponds and lakes, storing runoff in storm drains, creating artificial recharge trenches, etc.
• Sustainable land use: Parks and other low-impact human activities must be permitted in low-lying areas of cities, and encroachments into natural drainage areas must be minimized.

These are some important reason of flooding in Urban areas and how we reduce these problems.

3.शहरी मैदानी व्यवस्था का अभाव।
4.दोषपूर्ण जल निकासी प्रणाली: जनसंख्या में भारी वृद्धि के लिए अधिकारी उचित योजना बनाने में असमर्थ हैं।

मानव परिबल:
1.जलवायु परिवर्तन के कारण चरम मौसम की घटनाएं हुई हैं, जो कई मानवजनित गतिविधियों का परिणाम है।
2.गाँव से शहरी क्षेत्रों में जनसंख्या का पलायन भी बाढ़ के प्रमुख कारक हैं। क्योंकि बढ़ती जनसंख्या भूमि क्षेत्र की कमी के कारण रिसाव संगठन को प्रभावित करती है।
3.लोग राष्ट्रीय आपदा प्रबंधन दिशानिर्देशों (एनडीएमए) का ठीक से पालन नहीं करते हैं।

उठाए जाने वाले महत्वपूर्ण कदम:
1.जागरूक नागरिक एनडीएमए के निर्देशों का पालन करें।
2.वर्षा का संचयन और अन्य निवारक उपाय, जैसे तालाबों और झीलों को गहरा करना, तूफानी नालियों में अपवाह का भंडारण करना, कृत्रिम पुनर्भरण खाइयों का निर्माण करना, आदि।
3.सतत भूमि उपयोग: पार्कों और अन्य कम प्रभाव वाली मानवीय गतिविधियों को शहरों के निचले इलाकों में अनुमति दी जानी चाहिए, और प्राकृतिक जल निकासी क्षेत्रों में अतिक्रमण को कम किया जाना चाहिए।
